With a strong referral from a decade long client, ADW was selected to create a new "ground up, state of the art local neighborhood hot spot." The partners secured an off the beaten path site, specifically not on the heavy commercialized York Road corridor, to capture a "neighborhood" feel. Set in amongst warehouses and the light rail line, Blue Stone was required by Baltimore County to be harmonious with its surroundings to appease planners.

The architecture draws from the area's quarry mining heritage, while pushing a more modern vocabulary. The two-story glass entry tower extrudes thru the building creating a monitor that allows natural light to cascade down into the center bar area. Just to the right of the entrance is a fanciful "Red Barn addition" that harkens back to rural Baltimore County.

"Despite Baltimore County's strict design criteria, ADW created a signature, community hot spot for fine food and spirits."
