Historically sensitive to Rockfield Manor and compatible with adjacent rancher community, while maximizing square footage

Client RWH/Sarah Ross, LLC
Location 407 East Churchville Road
Town of Bel Air
Cost $750,000 ±
Size 7,495 SF
Completion 1997

This Professional office Building, in a residentially zoned transition area, had to meet strict Architectural requirements before it could receive approval from the Town of Bel Air. Not only did it need to meet over fifty different requirements, but it also had to be sensitive architecturally to the adjacent historic "Rockfield Manor" house. Through creative massing and innovative accessibility solutions the proposed design won unanimous approval from the Planning Commission. The two story all brick building encompasses seven thousand four hundred and ninety five square feet. Creatively nestled into an existing hillside, the upper and lower levels are accessible to grade, avoiding and elevator that would have been cost prohibitive.

"I don't believe we would have secured approval for this size project without ADW's creativity and sensitivity to the historical issues we faced."
—Robert W. Haase, Developer/Owner
